Research & Informational Donations
DCHS also accepts donations of items, documents, and artifacts relating to Douglas County History.
Information for your personal, family, business, and organization files are always welcome, as are photos of Douglas County events, buildings, and residents past and present. We can make copies or keep originals in our files. Everything from genealogical information, business documents, scrapbooks, photos, and more can find a home somewhere in our library or archives.
IMPORTANT: OBJECT DONATIONS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD UNTIL A FULL INVENTORY OF OUR COLLECTION CAN BE COMPLETED. WE ANTICIPATE A COMPLETION DATE IN 2020. WE ARE SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL 320-762-0382. THANK YOU.
All artifact donations are considered by the Accessions Committee. They take into account the item’s relevance to Douglas County History, its condition, if there are other similar objects already in the collection, whether we can safely and reasonably store and display the item, and whether it has supporting information. Supporting information could include details on who made or used the item, photos of the item in use, receipts etc. It is always best to include as many details about an object’s history (owner, year, etc.) as possible.
At this time, we CANNOT accept any of the following:
- Photos of Unidentified People
- Wedding Dresses
- Large Furniture
