Gift giving benefits YOU:
The Society depends upon the support of generous contributors like you. Your gift does make a difference. The enhancement of the historic house, the documentation of history, the recording of present day events and community history programs are all made possible through your gifts. There are many ways to make a contribution. You can design a gift that honors your philanthropic intentions, while achieving your financial and tax planning goals.
Gifts of Cash
Cash contributions are a quick and easy way to show your support of the Society.
Unlike a contribution that is given and spent on an immediate need,
a gift to an endowment (or perpetual) fund will give many times its original value through time, making it a gift that keeps giving. With an endowment fund, assets are invested to provide a consistent, annual distribution for charitable purposes while protecting the value of the principal. This is also referred to as a permanent fund because it will continue to grow, and grant charitable dollars towards its defined purpose, forever. Talk to your financial or legal advisor about setting up an endowment fund for the Douglas County Historical Society.
All contributed funds are used in accordance with the donor’s directions. All qualify as contributions to a public non-profit organization for maximum deductibility for income, gift and estate tax purposes. Bequests that go toward the endowment may qualify for memorial naming if the gift is of sufficient size and may also be directed to benefit a particular program of the Society. Donors can name their funds after themselves, their families, or another person or place of their choosing. If desired, funds may remain unnamed.
