Click here to read the Summer Newsletter, 2018

The Summer 2018 Newsletter for the Douglas County Historical Society was in the mail to our DCHS Members this week. Take a look at the many activities and groups that have utilized the resources, employees and volunteers of DCHS this spring and early summer, as we continue to work on the goal that our mission statement outlines:

The mission of the Douglas County Historical Society is to discover, preserve and disseminate the history of the county and its people.

A big THANK YOU goes out to all of the Douglas County Historical Society stakeholders, who support us in so many different ways.

4th of July, 1909, street parade, Alexandria, Minnesota. This photo features The People’s Store float, a store located where the Ben Franklin store is today. The parade started at the Carnegie Library and went north on Broadway.  The angle of the sun and shaded areas indicate that the parade was in the morning.
