A big thank you to Thrivent and DCHS Volunteer Mary New, for helping us preserve Douglas County History!
The mission of the Douglas County Historical Society is to “discover, preserve and disseminate the history of the county and its people.”
People from Douglas County MN, or with Douglas County roots, donate family and historic items that need special care. These items are catalogued, repaired if needed, and preserved. DCHS uses these items for exhibits, educational programs, and historical research.
With the help of Mary New, and the generosity of Thrivent, DCHS received $250 to purchase fifteen archival boxes used to preserve clothing, textiles, photographs and documents.
DCHS staff and volunteers display the archival quality storage boxes in the parlor at the historic Knute Nelson House, 1219 Nokomis Street, Alexandria, MN, headquarters of the Douglas County Historical Society, MN.
